Chakra Sadhana: Subtle Body Practices for Experienced Meditators

Now we begin the meditators journey into the subtle body.  Our time spent together exploring the practices of pranayama and the realities of karmic life have established an excellent foundation of sadhana.  Yet a skillful meditator must cultivate mastery of all levels of existence because all levels of existence have a role to play in the path of meditation.  The subtle body, including the energy centers known as “chakras” are critical gateways on the journey to the Superconscious state.

AM Practice:   Joints and Glands, General Pranayama, Meditation
AM Teaching: Introduction. What is “Superconscious” Meditation (Turiya)? What is the subtle body?  What role does prana play in meditation?  What role do the chakras play in the field of prana?
 
PM Practice:   Movement, Spinal Breath, Meditation
PM Teaching:  What are the chakras?  What role does each chakra play in the gross body?  What role does each chakra play in the subtle body?  What role does each chakra play in meditation?
 
Saturday
AM Practice:   Joints and Glands, Spinal Breath, Meditation
AM Teaching: What does it mean for a chakra to be “blocked” and what are the implications for meditation?  What causes the chakras to become blocked?  Do we possess the means to “open” the chakras? 
 
PM Practice:   Movement, Spinal Breath, Nadi Shodhanam, Shava Yatra w/Chakra Emphasis
PM Teaching: What is “Chakra Sadhana”?  As meditators in the Himalayan Tradition, what practices should we incorporate to purity and open the chakras?  What precautions should we be aware of?  Introduction to Bhuta Shuddhi
